Change is in the Air

As a New Year begins, change is in the air throughout the legal world. Pending revisions to the nation’s tax rates will affect South Florida attorneys’ clients in fields as diverse as trust and estate planning, securities and family law. The IRS’ ongoing drive to close tax loopholes and collect more revenue will continue to impact international banks and their customers with offshore accounts.

On a more positive note, the level of real estate transactions and overall business activity is likely to increase in 2013, creating demand for land use, zoning and entitlement work.  In healthcare, the rollout of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) will create more demand for counseling, transactional and litigation services throughout the region.

For all of us at the South Florida Legal Guide, the big news is our next publication — a Spanish-language version coming this spring that will complement this Annual edition, as well as our Midyear and Financial editions.

As our family of publications continues to grow, you can rely on our team to continue to provide valuable information for your legal practice and practical tips on the business side. In this issue, we are profiling six of our most Distinguished Attorneys, highlighting their professional careers and contributions to legal, civic and humanitarian organizations. We are also giving you an inside look at five of our Prominent Law Firms, known regionally, nationally and internationally for the high caliber of their services to clients.

This issue also features our annual lists of Top Lawyers, Top Law Firms, Top Up & Comers, and Top CPAs and Financial Professionals. We believe you will also benefit from the articles in our Professional Services Forum, which have been written by leading professionals on different aspects of law, finance and business. Finally, we are including in-depth Profiles of a select group of our top professionals.

Once again let me thank for our readers and advertisers who support our growing family of publications. We welcome your comments and suggestions, and appreciate your feedback. Best wishes for a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year.
