Turning 18 and All Grown Up

With this edition, South Florida Legal Guide celebrates 18 years of serving the professionals in our region.  Right from the start, we have set a high standard for our Top Attorneys and Top Law Firms by using a peer-nomination procedure.  Today, those legal professionals and their firms, as well as our Top CPAs & Litigation Support Professionals and Top Up and Comers continue to be vetted for their experience, credentials and contributions before being included in our publication.

Through the years, we have expanded our annual guide to include profiles of Distinguished Attorneys and Prominent Law Firms. For me, it’s a pleasure to interview these well-respected attorneys about their careers, professional accomplishments and personal goals. After all, we need to consider an individual’s integrity, character and values, as well as a resume, when deciding to engage or recommend an attorney.

While we are solidly in the digital era, we have not abandoned the printed page. In fact, many of our readers tell us they like to keep South Florida Legal Guide in their office throughout the year for convenient reference. It’s a tangible publication that doesn’t get lost amid the thousands of emails that land in our in-baskets throughout the year.

Along with marking our 18th birthday — thus reaching the legal age of adulthood in Florida — South Florida Legal Guide is now a family! Each month, we produce an independent edition that is inserted in the Business Monday section of The Miami Herald. It allows us to reach a wider audience that includes business owners, executives, bankers, investors, wealth managers and other readers who follow the region’s financial news.

Along with highlighting many of our top professionals, South Florida Legal Guide’s monthly edition includes articles and columns on timely topics, such as medical marijuana, sexual harassment and cybersecurity.  I encourage you to read our insert in future editions of Business Monday or to visit our website, sflegalguide.com to read our prior editions. Meanwhile, I hope you enjoy reading this 18th annual edition, which includes a wide selection of Professional Forum articles on timely issues in law, finance and business written by leading professionals. Once again, we have included in-depth Profiles of a select group of our top professionals who are committed to providing the highest level of service to their clients.

Having seen many business publications come and go over the past 18 years, I would like to thank our sponsors and advertisers, as well as our readers, for their continued support of South Florida Legal Guide. We will continue to serve as a valued source of information for our professional community in the years ahead.
